How Rankings Work

Who gets ranked

  • Ranked: at least 5 counted games in the division.
  • Provisional: 1–4 counted games. Too few results for a competitive rank, so these teams are listed separately in power-score order for reference only.
  • Participation only: the team appears in the export but has no counted games. No rank is assigned.
  • A division is listed once at least one of its teams has 5 or more counted games. Divisions below that are not listed yet. Leaving a division off this page does not change any rank or power score.
  • Each division is rated separately. A team that played in two divisions has a separate profile in each, and teams are identified by their Playbook365 team Id, never by name alone.

Which games count

A game counts when it was scheduled on or before the date the data was prepared and has two valid scores. Future games, missing or invalid scores, and 0–0 results (held for review) are not counted. A “published” status in the export is not treated as proof that a game was played. Equal non-zero scores count as ties.

Power score

Power Score = 100 × (0.55 × Adjusted Win % + 0.30 × Schedule Strength + 0.15 × Margin)

  • Adjusted Win % (55%): (W + 0.5 × T + 2) ÷ (G + 4). This adds four neutral games at .500, so a team with few games is pulled toward the middle until it has more results.
  • Schedule Strength (30%): the average Adjusted Win % of the opponents a team played, using only those opponents’ games in the same division and leaving out their games against the team being rated. If an opponent has no other counted games, .500 is used for that game.
  • Margin (15%): average run differential per game, with each game capped at ±10 runs, scaled from 0 to 1 ((average + 10) ÷ 20). The cap keeps lopsided scores from dominating.
  • Equal power scores are separated by Adjusted Win %, then Schedule Strength, then Margin. Teams still equal share the same rank.

Limits

  • Schedule strength only sees games in this dataset. When groups of teams mostly play each other, comparisons between those groups are less reliable.
  • Small samples are uncertain. A few games can move a team a long way, and teams with close power scores should be treated as roughly even.
  • No championships, runner-up finishes or player statistics are shown; the export does not identify them.
  • The formula weights are editorial choices.

Rankings are informational. They use SWAT’s published formula applied only to games in the Fall 2026 export. They are not statewide or national rankings, and the formula has not been validated as a predictor of future results.
